Which size should I choose?
The 30×30cm is the smallest and suits hooded litter boxes or very compact spaces. The 40×50cm suits most standard open litter trays and gives enough surface for a cat to take several steps after exiting before reaching the floor. The 50×65cm is best for large trays, multi-cat households or very active scatterers. When in doubt, go larger — a bigger capture area means less cleaning.
Does it work with all litter types?
The honeycomb cells catch standard clay, clumping, and silica crystal litter granules. Very fine sand-style litter may pass through or get trapped in the texture differently, but the mat still reduces scatter significantly compared to no mat. Wood pellets are too large to fall through the cells and simply sit on the top surface — they are still caught but not collected in the lower tray.
How do I empty the collected litter?
Separate the two layers. Take the top honeycomb layer and shake it over the litter tray — the litter held in the cells falls back in. Take the bottom tray layer and tip the collected litter back into the tray. Wipe or rinse both layers and reassemble. This takes under a minute and is far quicker than sweeping scattered litter from the floor.
Will my cat use it or avoid it?
Most cats accept the mat without issue — the honeycomb surface is firm and smooth underfoot and does not feel like a sensory deterrent. Place the mat directly in front of the litter box exit so your cat must step on it when leaving. Cats that are particularly paw-sensitive may initially step around it; in that case extend the mat to cover a wider area so they cannot avoid walking on it.
